Clay was an honest New York City cop driven to bring down the mob and make his city a little safer, even when it seemed like nothing he did made any difference. He always played by the rules until a two-bit junkie hit man destroyed his family and left him for dead. But Clay won’t let himself lie down until he gets one last thing revenge.
Praise for Fuckin’ Lie Down Already
Jack Ketchum, author of RED and THE LOST “This is a small masterpiece. It’s said that the devil’s in the details and Tom got all the details exactly right. I always said Pic was one to watch. Fuck watching. He’s utterly there. A voice to listen to and learn from.”
Ed Gorman, author of THE POKER CLUB, THE AUTUMN DEAD and THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED “Short, tight, effective crime fiction. My kind of writing.”
Bill Pronzini, author of SPOOK and STEP TO THE GRAVEYARD EASY “Hard, hard, hard noir, very well done.”
Al Sarrantonio, author of Moonbane and Orangefield “A potent mix of GoodFellas and the classic 1950 Edmond O’Brien film D.O.A. A pedal-to-the-metal cops and mobsters roller coaster ride— this story delivers!”
Fuckin' Lie Down Already edition by Tom Piccirilli Caniglia Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
A deceptively simple and straight-forward revenge tale, this sharp, compact novella draws its strength not from its matter-of-fact plot (an honest cop with a gangrenous stomach wound from the attempted hit that claimed his wife and son settles the score with the mobster that wanted him dead), but rather its raw, unflinching look at death, loss, and retribution.Clay, the protagonist ("our hero" just doesn't sound right in this context), should by all rights be dead--he's leaking important fluids and his insides are scrambled from his assassin's bullet--but with grim determination he fights through the agony, both physical and emotional, to avenge his family. And with his keen sense of detail and deft characterization Piccirilli makes us feel it, too, submerging us into Clay's pain until we're ready to pick up our own throwaway .38.
A bracing slice of noir grimness, LIE DOWN ALREADY is short, not at all sweet, but d*mn fine reading.

Fuckin' Lie Down Already edition by Tom Piccirilli Caniglia Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I am a fan of author's with a voice. Tom Picciirilli is A Plus ... so many quality works ... a skillful writer that I enjoy time after time.
The book was short and brutal, but a fun read. If you are a fan of Tom Piccirilli, you'll like this story.
An awesome fast paced, incredible, novella about the love of a father, the inner strenght this love brings forward, and vengeance.
Absolutely superb! Reminded me of Andrew Vaachss.
This novella may not be perfectly written but the roughness really plays into it, driving the intensity right into your eyeball. Tom Piccirilli is a master of voice in this. He just slaps you with this story.
The title is intense....but the story is even more.
Tom Piccirilli kicks you in the gut with this dark tale of noir and doesn't stop until someone's dead. The action starts immediately, and the pain that is felt by Guy as he travels the roads with his car full of dead and dying people is understated, and intense all at the same time. Buy this book. Read this book, let it seep in, you won't be disappointed.
I'm still pretty new to Pic's work, but I have not been disappointed once. This was a great little novella, quick and to the point. Brutal and bloody. Grabs you from the first sentence, and keeps you to the dedication at the end.
Bold title, bold book.Take the most tragic cop novels, rip the last twenty pages off and rewrite them as a standalone story. Death is a strange thing to talk about in fiction, because usually when a character die, he falls off the page. But here, Clay dies throughout the story and Piccirilli makes it as visceral and excruciating as possible. Not for every reader, due to the graphic description, but damn it if Tom Piccirilli isn't a master at taking a tired idea (the wiseguy novel), flip it upside down and attack it from a fresh (freakish) angle. It's an emotional, guttural thrill ride like only him can write. If you're looking for something unique, that'll shake you from your habits as a reader or if you just like your noir as dark as possible, this will be deeply satisfying. Another short gem from the master.
